Do you want to build professional looking websites quickly, without any knowledge of HTML? You can with XsitePro

A review of XsitePro by Darren Gibson

XSitePro

Quite by accident, I stumbled on a piece of WYSIWYG web page design software called XsitePro. Although it was initially targeted at affiliate marketers (due to the speed it can create complete websites), this software is ideal for those who create ANY site that needs to be updated regularly.

Most people who are new to creating their own website will fall into one of the following categories:

Settle for the online “catch all” web page creator bundled by their web host (usually limited to just a handful of pages)

Fork out a small fortune for Dreamweaver or Frontpage

Struggle with a free or open source HTML editor

Due to the limited funds available (I live in the UK, and if I was to buy Dreamweaver, it would cost me £399 – about $800), I opted for the third option, and used an open source WYSIWYG editor called NVU to produce my family website.

Now, don’t get me wrong, NVU is a fine piece of kit.  The problem I found is that, as my family site grew to more than a few pages, updating it became more and more of a chore.  Then, in late 2006, I discovered that NVU was no longer being actively developed.  It was time to look for an alternative………

I decided that I would “bite the bullet” and take a trial of  Dreamweaver, so I did a Google search and spotted the Xsite Pro site within my search results.  Curious, I clicked on the link.

The first thing to grab my attention was the short amount of time it takes to build a site.  The sales page claims that you can go from nothing to a full site in just a couple of hours after installing Xsite Pro.

Secondly, once you have built your site, adding content (or even completely changing the layout) is a cinch.  Navigation menus (including breadcrumb section menus) and site maps – both HTML for site visitors and XML for Google - are automatically updated, so all you have to do is press the “publish” button. Also, this smart little program advises you on what you need to do to ensure your pages are search engine-friendly.

I decided to dig a little further and googled "xsite pro review". Obviously, there were a number of blog post reviews, but I also spotted the fact that a respected UK computer magazine (Practical PC) had reviewed Xsite Pro. Here is a screenshot of their 10/10 review

This is what their expert reviewer had to say in his closing comments: "If you want to make money from websites quickly and easily then XSitePro may be the only purchase you’ll need. From start to finish in under an hour and if you haven’t made your fortune in a year, then you can always get your money back"

By this time, I was sold on the idea of giving XsitePro a try and decided to click on that order button!

One easy Paypal transaction later, I had my 48mb download link, activation information and a 365 day money back guarantee.

Lesson 1: Managing projects and web sites

Lesson 2: Page layouts

Lesson 3: Adding pages

Lesson 4: The designer

Lesson 5: Special pages

Lesson6: Affiliates

Lesson 7: SEO

Lessons 8 & 9: The “Other” tab

Lesson 10:  Power pack features

Lesson 11: Publishing your site

As promised, I was indeed well on my way to creating a content rich, optimised website from scratch within about 90 minutes.  With a simple right click, I was adding adsense and other affiliate links to my new site.  Content is added by simply pasting in the articles I had already accumulated.  A pop-in window, with cookies set to “session only”, was added to capture details for my opt in list and I published the site to my server.

I wanted my site to be search engine friendly, so I held back a few articles to drip feed to the site, so that Google can accept it as the organic, content rich site it actually is, without having to worry about updating the navigation menus on over 50 pages – Xsite Pro does that for me automatically!

XsitePro saves your complete site in one single xsp project file, but you are not tied to this format.  It is possible to export your project into files which are compatible with Dreamweaver and Frontpage.

XsitePro is a very capable and user friendly website creation tool. It would be an insult to label it as merely an "HTML editor". Whether you have a small family website like me, or a 1000 page adsense site, this is the ideal software for you
